Social Schedule

CLE gave my son Aaron the confidence and the motivation he needed

We facilitate weekly social events Monday through Sunday to which all of our students are invited. No student is required to attend these activities, but those students whose abilities to initiate and carry out social plans are still emerging are strongly encouraged to attend. In addition to these regular activities, special events are planned throughout the semester at the request and with the help of our students.

Faculty fervently support our students’ interests in on-campus activities and opportunities in the greater community. We will assist students in finding and joining clubs, sports teams, theater groups, religious organizations, or any other social outlet they wish to pursue.

Bowling Group – Mondays at 5:30 pm

Students sharpen their bowling skills by competing with each other. This is the longest standing student generated interest group that has proven to be very successful. The group is facilitated by an Independent Living Skills instructor.

Chick Group – Mondays at 7:30 pm

The women of CLE have the opportunity to select a fun activity to engage in as a group. The only rule is, no guys! Facilitated by our female mentors, the girls have spent time playing basketball, baking cookies, going out to eat, etc.

Movie Night – Saturdays at 7:00 pm

During movie night, transportation is made available to our students to local movie theaters. Independent Living Skills staff accompanies the students to the movie of their choice.

Dine Around – Fridays at 7:30 pm

It’s Friday, time to go out to eat! Mentors and Independent Living Skills Staff provide guidance to a positive dining experience. Students may choose from a wide array of international cuisines in the local area.

JCC Work Out Group – Tuesdays at 5:00 pm and Saturdays at 1:00 pm

When it’s time to get in shape, come join us at the JCC for a great work out. This facility has the latest equipment in fitness available to our students. This work out activity is facilitated by one of our Independent Living Skills Staff; however, students are invited to do this independently any day of the week.

Anime Club – Saturdays at 6:30 pm

One very popular group is the anime club. Is a style of animation originating in Japan, sometimes referred to by fans as Japanimation. Storylines may feature a variety of characters and may be set in different locations and in different eras. Anime Club is a student run organization which has a president, secretary, and a treasurer. Students host the meetings and movies in their apartments and are reimbursed for pizza every week.

Video Game Night – Sundays at 7:30 pm

Many of our students enjoy video games and would often play at home alone. This group is an example of how our student interests can be facilitated into social activities with the assistance of the Director of Social Skills. Then Video Game Night was created by one of our students who has been gracious to host the meetings in his apartment. Students are now able to gather and test their gaming skills in a social setting.

Cooking Group – Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5:00 pm

Shopping Group – Fridays at 3:00 pm

Beach Day – Sundays at 12:00 pm
