Social Schedule

College Living Experience is available in 6 great locations.

We facilitate weekly social events Monday through Thursday (and occasional weekend outings) to which all of our students are invited. No student is required to attend these activities, but those students whose abilities to initiate and carry out social plans are still emerging are strongly encouraged to attend. We encourage students to recommend activities that are meaningful for them. Several special events are planned throughout the year at the request and with the assistance of our students.

We fervently support our students’ interests in on-campus activities and opportunities throughout the greater community. Staff assist students in finding and joining clubs, sports teams, theater groups, religious organizations, volunteer opportunities, or any other social outlet they wish to pursue.

Our current weekly social activities include, but are not limited to:

Movie Night:

Students have movie nights at the center or may go to some of Austin’s local theatres to see the recent releases of their choice.

Dine Around:

Students take turns choosing which tasty and unique local Austin restaurants to visit.

Ladies’ Night:

The women of CLE meet up for good, quality “girl time.” Past events include dinner, movies, and painting pottery. It’s a great way to get the women to share, laugh, and spend time together as a group.

Game Night:

Students gather together to play board games, poker, magic, and ping pong.

Main Event:

This entertainment complex has glow golf, laser tag, billiards, bowling and more, and is a popular draw for our students.

Billiards:

Students kick back and enjoy a game of pool and snacks with their friends at a billiard hall nearby.

Bookstores:

Austin has numerous bookstores, new and used, where students may purchase some of their favorite novels, comic books, and music.

Shopping on Guadalupe Street:

Also known as “The Drag,” this eclectic “hot spot” is a popular destination where college students to shop, dine, and enjoy the sights and live music of Austin.

Community Service Activities:

CLE students give back to the community through individualized and group volunteer work throughout the year. The month of November is CLE

Austin’s “Volunteer Month.”

Volunteer Projects take place throughout the month, which include Austin’s Autism Walk and “Project Build a Park.” CLE is also involved in a number of student-led volunteer projects with the Salvation Army. Finally, many of our students have taken an interest in getting involved in animal shelters. Students have volunteered with the Humane Society and a private veterinarian clinic.

Community Events:

Austin is known for its many festivals, held almost weekly throughout the year. Students have enjoyed attending the Pecan Street Festival, Austin City Limits and the Video Game Festival.

Guest Speakers:

Guests from the community have visited to speak about various topics ranging from “how to have a healthy relationship” to “how to get involved in the video gaming industry.”

Day Trips:

Students often request to visit places outside of Austin on the weekends. Past events include trips to see the lovely view from Mt. Bonnell, hikes up Enchanted Rock and a day at the Texas Renaissance Festival.

Gym Nights/Athletic Events:

Students have access to a gym 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, right in their own apartment complex where they can work out on their own or with a group. Other sports outings include kickboxing, basketball, and tennis.

The Texas State Capitol/ Museums:

Because Austin is the capitol of Texas, there are several unique cultural opportunities. Students have enjoyed touring our recently-restored capitol and learning about past and current events in Texas. Popular museums in the Austin area include the Austin Museum of Art, the Bob Bullock State History Museum, the LBJ Library and the Blanton Museum of Art.
