Why did you go into teaching/tutoring?
Teaching chose me; I did not choose it. As a college freshman I started working at my brothers’ school (who has Downs’ Syndrome ). During my employment there I observed his movement through the educational process. I found the staff caring, educated and committed to providing a quality educational experience for him. I was drawn into the profession.
Why did you choose special education?
I was drawn into the field of educating students with disabilities and exceptionalities as a result of my successful and enjoyable experiences as an employee at his school as a freshman in college. I have worked for over 25 years in the field of education and have published several works on topic(s) in special education.
What keeps you motivated?
I know that my presence makes a positive difference in the lives of the students and families that I serve. This keeps me coming back for more and motivated to continue the work!
What is your favorite thing about working at CLE?
At this present time my favorite thing is seeing the pride on student’s faces when they realize the growth and progress that they are making in the CLE program.
