Why did you go into teaching/ tutoring?
While at the University of Texas, I worked as a writing tutor and very much enjoyed the opportunity to see students change and grow over time. Once I graduated, I wanted to continue working with college students in an environment where I could continue to see my efforts leading to academic and personal growth for my students.
Why did you choose special education?
My brother has been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, and therefore I am well-acquainted with the kinds of struggles our students face every day. So many times I was frustrated by the lack of adequate teaching for students with disabilities, so when I saw a chance to work in a supportive environment with these students, I jumped at the chance.
What keeps you motivated?
Seeing the little and big successes that our students experience every day motivates me to keep coming back.
What is your favorite thing about working at CLE?
My favorite thing about working at CLE has been the unique and wonderful students I have come to know over the past semester, as well as the team that my fellow staff members and I have become.
